Perseteruan antara search engine Google dan Bing saat ini menjadi topic yang hangat di bicarakan di dunia maya. Google menuding mesin pencari Bing menyalin hasil pencarian mereka. Semua berawal dari tulisan Danny Sullivan di SearchEngineLand yang menjelaskan secara panjang lebar tentang bagaimana Google bisa mengatakan Bing menyalin hasil pencarian mereka. Baik Google dan Bing menunjukan bukti masing-masing.

Jujur saja saya kurang begitu mengerti masalah algoritma search engine. Tetapi untuk beberapa salah eja kata kunci  yang di search, top result memang terkadang sama kadang juga beda. Belum habis kehebohan kemunculan corp cycle di Berbah-Sleman yang sudah memakan satu korban tewas-okezone, kini muncul fenomena serupa di Bantul, tepatnya persawahan Wanujoyo Piyungan Bantul, Selasa (25/1/2011).

Apakah corp cycle Bantul terkait dengan yang ada di Sleman? belum ada keterangan resmi dari pihak yang berwenang. Hanya saja jika dilihat lokasinya memang tidak begitu jauh. Corp cycle Bantul dengan corp cycle Sleman hanya berjarak 5 kilometer atau 5 menit saja jika ditempuh dengan naik sepeda motor. Jika lingkaran yang ada di Berbah berada di bawah kabel listrik SUTET, di Piyungan berada di persawahan yang di sisi timurnya banyak pohon besar dan di sisi barat terdapat rumah atau pertokoan pinggir jalan tembus Prambanan-Piyungan-tempointeraktif.

Meskipun saat ini sudah ada yang mengaku sebagai pembuat corp cycle Sleman, yakni beberapa mahasiswa dari UGM seperti yang dilansir studentmagz. Apakah corp cycle Bantul juga dibuat oleh orang sama belum bisa dikonfirmasi. Namun melihat motivasi si pembuat corp cycle yang mencoba dan mempraktekkan kemampuan Matematika terapan dan desain ternyata juga hanya iseng.

Fenomena Crop Cycle atau pola simetris terbentuk di Sleman, tepatnya di areal persawahan milik Ngadiran (60), Berbah, Sleman. Kejadiannya diduga terbentuk pada Sabtu 22 Januari 2011 malam.  (Vivanews).

Corp Cycle sendiri sudah banyak terjadi di berbagai negara, namun di Indonesia hal ini baru pertama kali terjadi, dan penyebabnyapun kontroversial. Namun banyak yang percaya lingkaran tersebut merupakan lokasi pendaratan UFO.

Thomas Djamaluddin, Astronom Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional (LAPAN)  mengatakan, fenomena itu sangat diragukan ada kaitannya dengan UFO, bahkan hampir mustahil. Sebab, kata profesor itu saat dihubungi VIVAnews.com, Senin, 24 Januari 2011, "UFO secara sains tidak ada. Tidak ada bukti ilmiah keberadaan UFO. Tidak mungkin crop circle disebabkan UFO."

(CNN) -- After eight years together, MSNBC and Keith Olbermann are parting ways.

A statement from NBC Universal revealed the move late Friday.

"MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract," it read. "The last broadcast of 'Countdown with Keith Olbermann' will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC's success and we wish him well in his future endeavors."

At the end of his show Friday night, Olbermann announced his departure in typical deadpan style, evoking scenes from the film "Network" and thanking viewers for keeping him on the air for eight years.

BEIJING — Photos leaked online that appear to show a prototype of China's first stealth fighter jet were discussed in state media Wednesday – a move that supports claims the country's military aviation program is advancing faster than expected.

Both the English and Chinese language editions of the Global Times ran front-page articles on the photos of what appears to be a future J-20 fighter, along with extensive reports on the buzz the pictures have generated overseas.

Photos of the plane appeared on unofficial military news websites and hobbyist blogs last week and were still viewable Wednesday.

The Global Times did not comment on the authenticity of the pictures, but since the government wields extensive control over state media, the report's appearance and the fact that censors have not removed images from websites suggest a calculated move to leak the information into the public sphere.

That in turn would reflect the growing confidence of the traditionally secretive People's Liberation Army, which is pushing for greater influence and bigger budgets.

But the U.S. Defense Department said it wasn't worried about the reports.

"It is not of concern that they are working on a fifth-generation fighter," Marine Col. Dave Lapan, a Pentagon spokesman, said, since the Chinese are "still having difficulties with their fourth-generation fighter."

Calls to the spokesman's office at the Defense Ministry rang unanswered.

Aviation websites said the photos were taken from outside a fence at the Chengdu Aircraft Design Institute's airfield in southwestern China. The plane appeared to be undergoing a taxiing test of the sort that precedes an actual flight test.

A future Chinese stealth fighter has long been considered an inevitability. Deputy air force chief He Weirong told state broadcaster CCTV in November 2009 that China's fourth-generation fighter – a reference to stealth technology – would begin flight testing soon and could enter service within eight to 10 years.

China's aviation industry – both military and civilian – has made rapid progress in recent years but still relies heavily on imported technology. Propulsion technology has been a particular problem, with Russian engines still employed on China's homemade J-10 fighter jets and the J-11, a copy of Russia's Su-27 fighter jet.

Stealth technology is even more difficult to master because it relies on systems to hide the presence of the plane while equipping the pilot with enough information to attack an enemy. Emissions must be hidden and the plane's fuselage sculpted to avoid detection by radar and infrared sensors.

Chinese progress in that field calls into question U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates' decision to cap production of the F-22 Raptor stealth fighter at 187 planes. Supporters of the F-22 have warned of growing threats from China, as well as Russia, which has developed a stealth prototype that is already in the test flight stage.

Analysis of the J-20 photos shows it to be larger than either the Russian or U.S. planes, likely allowing it fly farther and carry heavier weapons.

Gudel nampaknya tidak mudah memilih satu diantara dua tabung kaca yang masing-masing berbendera Indonesia dan Malaysia.

Gudel berputar-putar dan berkali-kali terdiam memperhatikan dua tabung kaca berbendera Indonesia dan Malaysia di aquarium itu. Sekitar dua jam lebih, akhirnya Gudel masuk ke dalam pipa kaca berbendera Indonesia

Direktur Sea World Indonesia, Sonny W Widjanarko menyampaikan, nama Gudel merupakan singkatan dari 'Gurita Dewa Laut'. Dia adalah gurita betina yang berumur sekitar 18 bulan.

"Gudel baru hari ini  tiba di aquarium Sea World. Ia didatangkan dari Jepang, dan ia satu-satunya penghuni aquarium Giant Pacific Octopus," papar Sonny.

Gudel, gurita berbobot 6 kg, dengan panjang rentang 1,5 meter itu, diambil dari perairan Hokaido Jepang dan hidup dalam suhu air 14 - 16 derajart celcius.

A skier caught on a chair lift in winds gusting to 50 miles an hour grabbed his cell phone and called CNN. Robb Atkinson’s call has been carried live on the network, telling viewers people were heading up the mountain at the Sugarloaf resort when the lift fell “20 or 30 feet” and then stopped moving. More than 100 skiers have been stuck ever since 10 a.m.

According to the CNN coverage, there are reports of injuries but the extent of the injuries and number of people hurt is not clear. The witness did indicate seeing skiers “fall to the ground” from a height of about thirty feet and Atkinson has seen at least five injured skiers carried down the mountain by members of the ski patrol.

The ski patrol at Sugarloaf is working a rescue, and at the urging of CNN anchor Tony Harris, Atkinson, who works for CNN, has promised to record the rescue effort on his cell phone camera.

A spokesman for Sugarloaf tells CNN the lift had “a derailment” and the rescue effort will take one to two hours.

According to NASA's website, the Alabama center has had some cloud cover with a few intermittent breaks.

Neil deGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York, tells MSNBC that the eclipse begins at 12:29 a.m. ET and takes five and a half hours to get through the 12 stages of the eclipse.

Tyson recommends watching the lunar eclipse at its peak on the East coast – 2:45 to 3:00 in the morning.

Pemerintah Inggris Berencana Untuk Memblokir Situs Porno. Rencana ini mengemuka setelah menteri kebudayaan Inggris, Ed Vaizey dalam wawancaranya di The Sunday Times mengumumkan niatnya agar penyedia layanan internet (ISP) untuk mencegah warganya mengakses pornografi, namun para ahli mengatakan bahwa secara teknis rencana tersebut hampir mustahil.

Untuk mewujudkan rencana tersebut juga akan terkendala dengan biaya mahal dan jutaan situs-situs dengan konten pornografi menjadikan rencana tersebut tidak efektif.

Rencana memblokir situs-situs dewasa banyak dipertanyakan di Inggris termasuk Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), sebuah organisasi yang menyusun daftar situs illegal dengan konten dewasa dan mengirimkannya ke ISP. Namun, IWF sangat bergantung pada  laporan masyarakat.

Usulan Inggris tidak menutup kemungkinan menjadi program berskala nasional, agar orang tua mendukung program dengan melaporkan materi pornografi melalui ISP mereka untuk melindungi anak-anak mereka dari segala konten dewasa. Virgin Mobile, yang memiliki program dan visi yang sama untuk mobile internet mereka, mendukung program tersebut, mengatakan bahwa usulan pemerintah bukan hal yang buruk. Bagaimanapun, beberapa aktivis menyatakan bahwa pemblokiran konten melanggar hak-hak konsumen.

Pada panel "How To Get Acquired" di Le Web, Direktur Senior Strategi dan Akuisisi Microsoft Fritz Lanman mengaku pada Loic Le Meur bahwa Microsoft memang berusaha untuk mengambil alih jejaring sosial Facebook. Pembicaraan akuisisi oleh Microsoft pertama kali dilaporkan David Kirkpatrick dalam bukunya "The Facebook Effect."

"Ya kami mencoba untuk mengakuisisi Facebook" ujar Lanman menanggapi Le Meur pendiri Le Web, bahwa Facebook memiliki banyak kesamaan dengan Microsoft.

Kirkpatrick mengutip Steve Ballmer menawarkan Zuckerberg 15 miliar USD, yang juga sempat disinggung oleh Meur diatas panggung. Karena Facebook tidak akan dijual, Microsoft akhirnya menginvestasikan dana sebesar 240 juta USD. Sementara di atas panggung, Lanman berspekulasi bahwa Suatu saat nilai Facebook akan mencapai nilai setinggi yang ditawarkan Microsoft.

Microsoft dan Facebook sekarang bekerja sama dalam mencari sponsorship di mana pengguna Bing  dapat melihat informasi tentang friends’ Likes teman-teman mereka. layanan Pesan Facebook yang baru juga akan terintegrasi dengan Microsoft Documents.
